Whitney Knowlton Honored at 4th Annual Pet Hero Awards

Last Chance Animal Rescue founder Whitney Knowlton was recognized October 30 at the Pet Hero Awards for her nonprofit animal sanctuary, St. Francis Farm.

St. Francis Farm received the Outstanding Sanctuary Award from the Pet Philantrophy Circle at the fourth annual awards. Knowlton, of Southampton, established the animal sanctuary in 2013 in Carlisle, South Carolina, to complement the work of Last Chance Animal Rescue.

Last Chance is a Southampton-based nonprofit that saves animals from kill shelters. Last Chance underwrites the cost of relocating the animals to no-kill shelters, to foster homes and to permanent homes.

Also honored was Candy Udell, the founder of the Rescue Paw Foundation and president of London Jewelers She received the 2015 Animal Advocate Award.
