Mattituck-Laurel Library

The Mattituck-Laurel Library offers Orange All Around for ages four and five on Wednesday, November 20, at 1 PM. Join the library for fun stories, and art activities featuring the color orange.

Spot Art for grades two and three will be held on Thursday, November 21, 4 PM. Design your own button with the button-making machine.

The film “Farewell” — in which a Chinese family discovers their grandmother has only a short while left to live and decide to keep her in the dark and schedule a wedding to gather before she dies — will play on Friday, November 22, at 1:30 PM.

November is Native American Heritage Month, which celebrates the rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories of America’s native people. On Monday, November 25, at 6 PM, Jeremy Dennis, a member of the Shinnecock Indian Nation, will give a presentation on local Native American history, his work as an artist and photographer, and his exploration of indigenous identity and the significant Native American sites on Long Island.

Peconic Bay Medical Center

The Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead will offer kitchen classes, where chefs will prepare a healthy, delicious meal, and guests will get a chance to sample it too. A registered dietitian will be available to answer any questions. Coming up on Wednesday, November 20, Sweet Potato Stuffing; on December 18, Mashed Cauliflower and Potato. Gospel Concert Series

The Gospel Concert Series is comprised of more than 75 volunteer singers that perform an eclectic mix of gospel music over a two-day concert series on the East End. Enjoy on Friday, November 22, at 8 PM, at Mattituck Presbyterian Church and Saturday, November 23, at 8 PM at the Friendship Baptist Church in Flanders.

Turkey Plunge

Friends of the Shelter Island Library’s 10th annual Turkey Plunge will be held on Saturday, November 30, at 11 AM at Crescent Beach.
