The Athleisure You’ll Be Wearing All Day – And Night

Just because we now find ourselves in a “work from home era” doesn’t mean we should give in to spending our days in PJs – but it also doesn’t mean we need to sacrifice comfort for style.
Studies have consistently shown that clothing can be used as a coping mechanism to overcome depressed feelings (and we’re all feeling a touch of those as we close out the summer Hamptons season…), which is why we’re downright giddy with all the new athleisure styles hitting racks at boutiques like Bandier in Southampton.

These new styles combine the fashion-forwardness of the Paris runways with the comfort of your Christmas morning flannel – and it all starts with shoes. Taking their cue from Barbie, APL has released the Iconic Pink Capsule Collection with all their popular styles – like the TechLoom Bliss, TechLoom Breeze, TechLoom Wave, Streamline, TechLoom Zipline and TechLoom Slides – getting a pink makeover. Best of all, the kicks are machine washable (seriously).
While APL is the go-to for sleek, streamlined sneakers, Hoka rules when it comes to the ugly (in the best possible way…) “dad” sneaker. In fact, they’re the ones responsible for ushering in this trend. The brand launched a new recovery shoe, Restore TC and the Bondi is a super cushioned everyday walking/running shoe perfect for fall Hampton strolls.
For those looking for a tennis specific shoe (let’s get use out of our manicured courts while we can!), ON launched THE ROGER line with none other than Roger Federer. It’s a mix of lifestyle and performance shoes. It includes options for spin, pickleball, walking and, of course, tennis, all of which look just as sophisticated as they perform – as in they fit in just as well on your clay or hard court as they do seated out front at one of the prime tables at Sant Ambroeus. Pair one of the collection’s styles with a piece from Alala’s new tennis collection for an ultimate summer-to-fall look.

As far as this season’s trending silhouette, it’s all about the one-piece. Port de Bras, a brand whose name is inspired by the graceful way in which ballerinas move their arms, is leading the way with their stunning designs widely worn by influencers like Hampton resident Melissa Wood Tepperberg. We’re particularly fond of their Nieves Unitard, which comes in a variety of colorways and in sizes XXS to XL. It’s cut to perfection, cinching the body while still being comfortable for a second skin feel. It’s one of the brand’s many fashion-forward, truly gorgeous pieces.
Swim brand L*Space launched an active collection that includes one-piece looks that work well for those searching for a more classic look. Case and point: the Recreation Jumpsuit. The monochromatic, cut-out piece works just as well at an SLT class as it does post sweat session under a cropped jacket or chunky sweater.

Speaking of outerwear, Free People has a stellar collection this season and it includes a color-blocked pullover, Hit The Slopes, available in over half a dozen colorways. The brand is also a great go-to for two-piece sets. Their Never Better Leggings are available in a long list of hue options and have coordinating tops in various silhouettes to suit the style and support level you’re looking for.
Meanwhile Alo Yoga, whose fans include Kendall Jenner, Hailey Bieber and Kaia Gerber, continues their rein with their trending Mid-Rise Showdown Trouser, available in an array of colors.
The ultimate accessory for the season might well not be clothing, however, but rather the HigherDOSE Infrared Sauna Blanket, which allows for heat therapy without the expense of building a full-on sauna or steam room in your Hamptons home. It’s certainly a covetable way to keep the summer vibes going year-round.
