Art Hike for Tick Bite Awareness
Tick Wise Education president, April Nill-Boitano, MSEd, and East End Tick & Mosquito Control president, Brian Kelly, are proud to host the Art Hike for Tick Awareness on Saturday, July 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the South Fork Natural History Museum (377 Bridgehampton-Sag Harbor Turnpike, Bridgehampton, NY 11932). Over the last few months, Tick Wise Educationhosted a poster contest for children, created by Boitano and Legislator Bridget Fleming, and winners of the 2019 Tick Bite Safety Awareness contest and will be displayed on the beautiful black lawn of the museum. The posters will be used as a creative and will showcase of all the things Suffolk County children learned this spring from the Tick Wise Education Program.
It is a free family-friendly event that is open to the public. The afternoon will feature an “art hike” through the gorgeous rear grounds of the South Fork Natural History Museum and Nature Center, and winning posters will be placed in the Suffolk Country Parks kiosks for the entire season to warn campers and hikers of the dangers of ticks. Local experts will share tick bite prevention strategies, how to check for ticks and tick check and removal tips at the end of the event. Winner will be announced at the event and prizes will be awarded. The event will be held in rain or shine.
