Crosswalk Closing Down Main Street in East Hampton

Parts of Main Street in East Hampton will be closed to traffic this week due to work that is planned for the construction of an illuminated crosswalk.
The illuminated crosswalk lights up when a person steps onto it and pushes a button—when the lights go on, it alerts drivers that a pedestrian is about to cross. In East Hampton, cars are required to yield to pedestrians who are crossing the street at a crosswalk.
Traffic lanes will be diverted for three weeks between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. During some of this period only one lane will be open.
