Ferry Approved In Sag Harbor
A law has been passed in Sag Harbor that allows a ferry service to run between Greenport and Sag Harbor. The Sag Harbor Village Board passed the law on Tuesday night. The law creates a temporary special permit that can be applied for that allows a ferry service to run between the dates of May 1 until October 31.
Sag Harbor Village Mayor Brian Gilbride voted in favor of the law, along with Robby Stein, Bruce Stafford and Edward Gregory. Timothy Culver voted against the law.
Once the law is approved in Albany, the two entrepreneurs who are looking to operate the ferry, Hampton Jitney owner Geoff Lynch and his business partner in the ferry venture, Jim Ryan, will apply to the Village board for a permit to operate the ferry.
