Hampton Bays’ 1 North Steakhouse is moving to a new address—but keeping its name.

The restaurant’s last day at 1 North Road will be Sunday, November 10. Changes are already underway at its future location, 322 West Montauk Highway, which was up until recently known as Ciao Bella Senhora, a Northern Italian and Portuguese restaurant.

The landscaping is being redone, and, inside, a new bar and lounge is being installed. Formerly red, the building was repainted last week. “It was quite the eyesore,” said chef and owner Chris Cariello on Thursday. “We brought it back to its original beauty of Cape Cod gray with white trim.”

Cariello, a Hampton Bays native trained at Johnson and Wales, opened 1 North Steakhouse in 2009 with family members. He said they are moving for two reasons. Primarily, the business has grown and needs a larger and better equipped facility “It was the next move in our business plan,” he said. But they have also been on the lookout for a new location for the past couple years because their lease runs up at the end of this month and the area where his restaurant plus Tide Runners and White Water Outfitters lies could become townhouses in another year of two.

The new space has a private party room, surround sound speakers throughout, a kitchen with up-to-date equipment, and nice recess lighting, Cariello said. He bought the building, so he will not have to worry about a lease running out ever again.

He expects to open the new location around the beginning of December. But before then, he’ll have his first week off in five years, he joked.
