Shop 'til You Drop: Tips to Keep from Falling Apart
My goodness, is Mercury retrograde over yet? We’re almost there. For surviving the few days, I’ve got a few tips to keep everyone from falling apart. In fact, astrologers say you can use this time to your advantage by rethinking, revisiting, repairing and reconnecting. Get in touch with your thoughts, maybe figure out what old ways of thinking might be holding you back. Revisit an old project you pushed aside. Revamp your CV, or maybe your bedroom. Repair something that’s broken, or throw it out. Reconnect with old pals. Whatever you do, don’t take anything too seriously! Rest and relaxation are essential during this time, so be sure to schedule a little “me” time and indulge yourself.
Detox Nail Kit. Now here’s something fun you can do with friends while you’re reconnecting and perhaps even revisiting old photos. Detoxify your nail polish routine with toxin-free nail lacquers from Scotch Naturals. Eco-conscious and vegan (not that we were going to taste it), each nail polish is free of those nasty, harmful chemicals that ruin your nails and the environment. Best part is, they finish just as nicely as your faves from Essie and Opi. Check out all the color choices at scotchnaturals.com.
While you’re sorting through your own nail polish collection, consider this: Expert Dr. Chris Adigun, Dermelect Cosmeceuticals’ board of advisors and NYU clinical assistant professor of dermatology says, “Over time, nail polish can thicken due to evaporation of the solvent medium. Often times, these polishes can be revived by adding a small amount of acetone to the polish and mixing it with gentle shakes. Start with just a few drops, because that may be all that is necessary.” Who knew?!
Here’s a fun tidbit from one of our Dan’s Papers editors:
Last week brought one particularly warm and sunny day, and I ambitiously broke out the summer sandals to pair with some cute jeans. Big mistake. Flip flop season is definitely over. But you don’t have to sacrifice style—or even mini skirts—now that the cooler weather is here. I recently tried out a pair of bootights. Devised by entrepreneur Shelby Mason, bootights look like tights, but the footie part resembles a sock. Boot-lovers rejoice! Suddenly, your feet have stopped slipping around inside of your boots. No more cold feet. No more putting fugly man-socks over your tights. Bootights come in a variety of styles and colors, so you’re guaranteed to find something that fits your look. And, when it gets warm again, check out darby’s, the ultimate bootsock, for a pair of stylish knee-highs that peek over the tops of your boots. Available at shelbymason.com.

An extra special thanks to Halter Ranch Vineyard for sending us a bottle of your 2012 Cotes de Passo Blanc. Aged five months in 100% neutral French oak barrels, this white blend is rich on the palate and has a clean finish. A rich white like this is perfect for your fall dinners and pairs well with creamy, soft-ripening cheeses, too. I’ll be serving this lovely wine with brie and a baguette when my girlfriends come to visit this weekend. Order yours at halterranch.com or inquire at your local liquor store.
