Inaugural Wölffer Estate Vineyard Rosé Week Begins June 20
Wine lovers and connoisseurs of the East End take note: Wölffer Estate Vineyard Rosé Week is coming up, offering a variety of events for Hamptonites and visitors to indulge in the vineyard’s famed rosés.
From June 20, through June 26, the festivities celebrate Summer in a Bottle, the newest addition to the Sagaponack vineyard’s rosé portfolio. The floral design on the bottle reflects its summery character, emphasizing what the vineyard describes as a “taste of the Hamptons high season.”
The celebration kicks off Friday, June 20, at the Rufus Wainwright performance at Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center. Wölffer rosé will be available before the 8 p.m. show. Tickets to see the famous singer-songwriter range from $60 to $140 and can be purchased at whbpac.org. Members of the Wölffer Wine Club have access to discounted tickets.
Saturday night, June 21, is the Group for the East End’s “Her Comes the Sun!” benefit at the vineyard from 6 to 11 p.m. Guests will enjoy Wölffer No. 139 Rosé Cider at the gala, which also features entertainment from DJ Mad Marj and cuisine by chefs Noah Schwartz and Todd Jacobs. Group for the East End works to preserve the environment of eastern Long Island through education and advocacy initiatives. Tickets are available at groupfortheeastend.org and range from $500 for individual donor tickets up to $25,000 for a table of 12.
Sunday, June 22, and Monday, June 23, events are reserved for Wölffer Wine Club members. The “A Taste of Provence” lunch on the lawn of the Wölffer residence includes food prepared by chef Christian Mir of the Stone Creek Inn along with a selection of rosés. Tickets for the 1 to 4 p.m. event are $150 per person.
The second exclusive Wölffer Wine Club event, “Rosé in the Rose Garden” takes place Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Guests will tour the rose gardens with guide Rich Bogush, a horticulturist with Peconic Land Trust. Summer in a Bottle rosé will be served while exploring the estate. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door.
“Rosé in the Raw” on Tuesday evening, June 24, offers guests shellfish from a raw bar to pair with their rosé. This event takes place at the Wine Stand on Montauk Highway from 6 to 8 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door.
Wednesday night, June 25, promises two events for guests, the first of which will be on the terrace of the tasting room. “Big Rosé World: A Walkaround Tasting” includes samplings of rosé wines from around the world, including, of course, Wölffer rosé. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door.
For Wölffer fans who cannot make it out to the Hamptons on Wednesday evening, a Bryant Park BBQ gives Manhattan residents a chance to join in on the festivities. From 7 to 10 p.m. guests can enjoy Wölffer No. 139 Rosé Cider at this barbecue in the park. Tickets are $60 per person and can be purchased at ediblemanhattan.com.
The weeklong celebration concludes Thursday, June 26, with a special Twilight Thursday performance with Maria Bacardi. Enjoy vintage Cuban and French jazz while sipping on rosé from 5 to 8 p.m. There is no cover charge.
