The Great Outdoors Bird Watching at Hither Hills
SATURDAY, JUNE 27
Join walk leader Frank Quevedo, the executive director of the South Fork Natural History Museum, for Bird Watching at Hither Hills from 8 to 10 a.m. June is the perfect time for bird watching, as the East End woodlands are home to dozens of birds that only flourish in heavily treed areas. Possible sightings include the American Redstart, Black-and-White Warbler, Scarlet Tanager and Ovenbird. Familiar with their songs and calls, Quevedo will help simplify the search for birds in the dense, deciduous forest. Bring binoculars, a scope and a Field Guide to Birds of Eastern North America, if possible. This event is free for members of the South Fork Natural History Museum, or $7 for non-members. Fees include admission to the museum on the day of the program. Call 631-537-9735 for reservations.
