Student Athletes Named Academic All Americans
The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has named 13 Suffolk County Community College student-athletes Academic All Americans, and three East Enders are among them.
Seven of the students were name “superior” for maintain a grade point average of between 3.8 and 3.99, one of whom is an East End student. In addition, six students are named “exemplary” for maintaining a GPA of 3.6 to 3.79, two of whom are East End students.
“All of us at the College take great satisfaction in the accomplishments of these students as they are recognized for their commitment to learning and their passion for competition,” Suffolk County Community College President Dr. Shaun L. McKay says.
The East End students who were brilliant enough to make this list are Gabrielle Mason of Westhampton Beach, who received a Superior Academic Award for Track and Field; Patrick Stepnoski of Southold, who received an Exemplary Academic Award for Baseball; and Josiah Hoshyla of Hampton Bays, who received an Exemplary Academic Award for Track and Field.
The other students whom received this award are Courtney Bocchieri, Matt Carusillo, Jennifer Cibelli, Larissa Ellerman, Nick Hennessy, Billie Longo, Veronica Marino, Mary Kate O’Connell, Lena Sorrentino and Frank Valentino.
