Fleming to Chair Ways and Means Committee
Legislator Bridget Fleming has been appointed to chair the Suffolk County Legislature’s Ways and Means Committee.
The Ways and Means Committee considers all actions and legislation affecting insurance, general real estate matters, ethics, the sale of brownfields property tax liens, matters involving the day-to-day operation of county government, and responsibilities of the District Court and the Traffic and Parking Violations Agency.
Additionally, Fleming was appointed as the vice chairwoman to the Health Committee, and will serve on three other committees: Environment, Planning and Agriculture; Public Works, Transportation and Energy; and Public Safety.
Fleming, a Noyac resident who was formerly a member of the Southampton Town Board, was elected to the legislature in November.
“I am honored that the leadership has entrusted me with significant responsibility, particularly in heading up the important Ways and Means Committee,” Fleming said. “I look forward to working with my colleagues to serve our communities in addressing the needs of Suffolk County.”
