Bill Clinton Partners with James Patterson on New Novel
East End fave Bill Clinton is teaming up with best-selling novelist James Patterson to write a novel. The thriller, The President is Missing, will release in June 2018 as a joint release from Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group and Hachette Book Group. The former president told the Associated Press, “Working on a book about a sitting President—drawing on what I know about the job, life in the White House and the way Washington works—has been a lot of fun.”
Patterson added that “Working with President Clinton has been the highlight of my career, and having access to his first-hand experience has uniquely informed the writing of this novel.”
According to Publishers Weekly, Clinton and Patterson have known each other for 10 years, having met on a golf course. The idea that they should work on a novel together came from attorney Bob Barnett, who suggested they collaborate. The novel will incorporate “insider details that only a President can know.”
While The President is Missing will be Clinton’s first fictional book, he has written My Life, Giving and Back to Work, all published by Knopf. Patterson, of course, is one of the most famous novelists in the world, having written countless novels and stories. Some of his most famous books are the Alex Cross series, which has been adapted into a film franchise.
While details on the plot are non-existent at the moment, the title The President is Missing appears to give away the basic premise of the story.
