East Hampton Village Ambulance Association Chief Lisa Charde announced that Paul D’Andrea has been named the group’s Member of the Year for 2019 and Ian Hoyt is the recipient of the EHVAA Chief’s Award. D’Andrea responded to 330 emergency calls last year.

Westhampton Free Library

The Westhampton Free Library invites children ages three to five, with caregiver, to listen to penguin-themed stories and create a penguin craft on Wednesday, February 12, at 1:30 PM.

As part of its Lunch and Learn series, Westhampton Free Library will host a discussion on broken heart syndrome on Friday, February 14, at 12 PM. Dr. John Reilly of Stony Brook Cardiology and Specialty Care in Southampton will lead the discussion. How is our heart and mind linked and what causes broken heart syndrome? See how stress hormones affect the cardiovascular system.

Rogers Memorial Library

Steve Alcalde and Joanna Faron will host “Legendary Love Trivia, Famous Romances throughout History” on Thursday, February 13, at 5:30 PM at the Rogers Memorial Library in Southampton. Amagansett Library

A genealogy class will be held at the Amagansett Library on Thursday, February 13, at 6 PM to 7 PM. In these on-going classes, explore various methods in order to search for one’s history.

Enjoy a morning with the animals and educators of Quogue Wildlife Refuge on Saturday, February 15, at 11 AM. Meet owls, a snake, a leopard gecko, and other wildlife. Join the conversation, over lunch, with a panel of experts for The Press Sessions’ “The Evolving South Fork Rental Market,” on the changing face of the rental market in the Hamptons on Thursday, February 13, from 12 to 2 PM at Rowdy Hall. The 1770 House and the East Hampton Chamber of Commerce will co-host an after-business hours mixer on Wednesday, February 19, from 5 to 7 PM at the restaurant. Discussions on happenings for this spring including details on the Spring Street Fair. Complimentary passed hors d’oeuvres and happy hour pricing will be available. Drag Queen Story Hour

The Children’s Museum of the East End will host Drag Queen Story Hour’s Hamptons debut on Saturday, February 15, from 10 AM to 12 PM. DQSH started in 2015 and champions literacy while encouraging kids to celebrate gender diversity and all kinds of differences, while building confidence in expressing themselves. The event is free for members and included with the cost of admission for non-members. Crafting supplies are limited, and pre-registration is strongly encouraged. Garden Books

The Horticultural Alliance of the Hamptons’ Garden Book Review will meet at the Bridgehampton Community House on Saturday, February 15, from 11 AM to noon. Join in for a horticultural discussion on “The Education of a Gardener” by Russell Page, “The Painted Gardens English watercolors, 1850-1914” by Penelope Hobhouse and Christopher Wood, and “The Greater Perfection, The Story of the Gardens at Les Quatre Vents” by Francis Cabot. SAC Takeover 2020

Bring the kids to Painting for Kids with artist-in-residence Isadora Capraro on Saturday, February 15, from 3 to 4:30 PM, for an inspiring and fun workshop. Materials will be provided. The cost is $20 and $15 for Southampton Arts Council members. Ages six to 13 are welcome.

Join artist-in-residence Ruby Jackson on Sunday, February 16, at 3 PM for “Sculpey Minis.” Jackson will teach kids how to make miniature food, little animals, beads, or other imaginative things. SoFo Salamander Search

The South Fork Natural History Museum is offering a nighttime salamander search, led by SOFO president and herpetology enthusiast Andy Sabin. The search for the Eastern Tiger Salamander will be on Saturday, February 15, at 7:30 PM. The event is for families and children of all ages.

Farmers Market

A Winter Farmers Market will be held at the Spur on Sunday, February 16, from 1 to 4 PM. There will be local farmers and artisans who will display herbal teas, fruit spreads, clothing, and much more. All are welcome. For more information on all Spur events, go to www.thespur.com.

Hamptons Health Hotline

The Southampton Hospital Foundation is offering East Hampton and Sag Harbor residents a new way to stay informed on the health care issues of the day. Hamptons Health Hotline will be available via LTV’s live stream and video on demand at www.ltveh.org. The program will also air on Channel 20 on Thursdays at 7 PM and Sundays at 4:30 PM.
