Billy Joel Update: 4 Madison Square Garden Shows Now Booked
After adding a second date at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday morning, Billy Joel has added two more.
Sag Harbor’s Piano Man is now slated to perform at MSG on January 27, February 3, March 21 and April 18. While four shows so close together at the same venue may seem like a lot, it’s nothing for Joel. In 2006 he sold out 12 shows at MSG.
Joel recently sold out a benefit concert at The Paramount and an upcoming concert at Barclays Center with Ben Folds Five. These four shows should also sell out in a matter of minutes—and maybe that will encourage him to keep adding more dates and try to beat his own record.
Tickets go on sale to the general public Saturday at 10 a.m., but there is currently a presale for Citi cardholders, going on through Friday at 10 p.m.
Joel has won six Grammys, including the Grammy Legend Award, and has been inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
In December, Joel will be a Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts honoree. On December 8 at the Kennedy Center Opera House in Washington, D.C., Joel and the other honorees will sit with President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama for performances and tributes by their peers. It will be broadcast on CBS December 29 at 9 p.m.
