Dan’s Papers has always celebrated the best of the Hamptons and the North Fork, and nowhere is that celebration bigger than in our annual Dan’s Best of the Best competition.
Dan’s Best of the Best 2013, presented by Bridgehampton National Bank (BNB), drew a record-breaking number of voters sharing their picks for who should be honored among the best businesses, personalities and events on the East End—more than 400,000 votes were cast as the 1,500-plus nominees vied for recognition among the vast number of Dan’s Papers readers telling us who they think are tops.
“This is the first year that BNB has been part of Dan’s BOTB. And it makes perfect sense,” says Kevin O’Connor, President and CEO of Bridgehampton National Bank. “The businesses and service providers in our community make the East End special and economically vibrant. It’s obvious that each business and individual that participates takes great pride in what they do—they want to be the best. So, as a community bank that supports them and takes great pride in what we do, it’s just a perfect partnership.
“Being recognized for doing not just a good job, but a great job, is very gratifying, and the winners of Dan’s BOTB not only are being acknowledged for their efforts, but they are being celebrated,” O’Connor adds. “And certainly going through the year with the BOTB designation is a marketing benefit. BOTB provides a mechanism to tell the world that when it comes to your category of business or service, you are the best.”
This year we have awarded Platinum, Gold and Silver level winners to the top three vote-getters in each category on both the North Fork and the South Fork. With voting as robust as it was in 2013, some races were so close that we had to call a few ties. And, in keeping with tradition, all winners are invited to attend the annual awards celebration—held this year at Suffolk Theater in Riverhead.
The annual Dan’s Best of the Best awards party is always a night to remember, an evening of live music, congratulations and, of course, the presentation of the coveted Best of the Best award certificates. Winners can proudly display their Dan’s Best of the Best emblem for the world to see in their windows, on their walls, in advertisements or wherever they decide—and we’ve seen some very creative ideas out there.
But the big night doesn’t end there. Following the revelry of the awards party will be the inaugural Dan’s Papers “The BEST” Concert, featuring perennial East End favorites Nancy Atlas and the Nancy Atlas Project and Gene Casey & the Lone Sharks rocking at Suffolk Theater. In addition to seeing them performing with their own bands that night, fans are looking forward to Atlas and Casey teaming up for a few songs. “It depends entirely on whether Nancy’s babysitter can work overtime,” Casey jokes. “I would love to.” The feeling is mutual with his fellow headliner. “We are already rubbing our rock-and-roll hands together to cook up something special,” Atlas promises.
We are pleased and proud to present you with those businesses, people and experiences that rose to the very top of their categories—these are YOUR Best of the Best choices for 2013!
