Shoreline Sweep: East Hampton Volunteers Clean Up Beaches Saturday
The inaugural Shoreline Sweep will be held this weekend on beaches in East Hampton Town from Wainscott to Montauk Point.
Dell Cullum, who has taken up a crusade against litter, is organizing the event in conjunction with the East Hampton Town Litter Committee.
Bags and gloves will be distributed to volunteers to pick up garbage—and dog poop. The East Hampton Town Trustees have arranged for the bags to be picked up. Recyclables should be separated so the town can inventory what kind of refuse is littering the beaches.
Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. Saturday, February 22, at Georgica Beach, Napeague Beach, Montauk Beach or Montauk Point.
Warm beverages will be provided and an after-sweep party is also planned, location TBD.
