Best of the Best Join Dan's Taste of Summer
Expect the best at Dan’s Taste of Summer, the premier food and wine events on the East End.
The majority of the eight Hamptons chefs challenging Team NYC at GrillHampton, presented by Pat LaFrieda, on Friday, July 17, are Dan’s Best of the Best winners across a variety of categories.
Competing for Team Hamptons at GrillHampton, Smokin’ Wolf BBQ (199 Pantigo Road, East Hampton; 631-604-6470, smokinwolfbbq.com) not only won platinum for BBQ, Arthur Wolf’s restaurant took silver for wings. Chris Cariello of 1 North Steakhouse (322 West Montauk Highway, Hampton Bays; 631-594-3419, 1northsteakhouse.com) was named the gold best chef in the Hamptons, while his restaurant took gold honors for happy hour, steak, steak house and waitress. Reigning People’s Choice champ David Hersh of Rumba (43 Canoe Place, Hampton Bays; 631-594-3544 rumbarumbar.com) took silver honors for cocktail, summer drink and waiter plus bronze for beer. Old Stove Pub (3516 Montauk Highway, Sagaponack; 631-537-3300) and chef Julio Quisbert earned silver among Greek restaurants.
The accolades for the 40-plus restaurants joining Dan’s Papers for Taste of Two Forks, presented by Farrell Building, on Saturday, July 18, are too numerous to name them all. A few highlights: Canal Cafe (44 Newton Road, Hampton Bays; 631-723-2155, thecanalcafe.com) holds the title for best lobster roll in the Hamptons. Citarella (Southampton, Bridgehampton, East Hampton; 631-537-5990, citarella.com) is platinum for cheese shop and bakery in the Hamptons and gold for butcher. First and South (100 South Street, Greenport; 631-333-2200, firstandsouth.com) holds the North Fork platinum honors for French fries. Grana Trattoria Antica (1556 Main Road, Jamesport; 631-779-2844, granajamesport.com) has the North Fork platinum pizza. Hampton Coffee Company (749 County Road 39A, Southampton; 631-353-3088, hamptoncoffeecompany.com) will be on hand to pour the gold best coffee in the Hamptons. Jedediah Hawkins Inn (400 South Jamesport Avenue, Jamesport; 631-722-2900, jedediahhawkinsinn.com) was named the silver winner on the North Fork for Continental cuisine. Joe & Liza’s (1668 Sag Harbor Turnpike, Sag Harbor, joeandlizas.com) will scoop the bronze best ice cream on the South Fork. Nammos (136 Main Street, Southampton; 631-287-5500) is the gold Green restaurant in the Hamptons. Noah’s (136 Front Street, Greenport; 631-477-6720, chefnoahs.com) hold honors for silver clam chowder on the North Fork. Shuckers Lobster & Clam Bar (58 Foster Avenue, Hampton Bays; 631-723-3100, shuckerslobsterbar.com) is platinum title holder for both lobster dinner and raw bar in the Hamptons, plus gold clam chowder. A Touch of Venice (28350 Main Road, Cutchogue; 631-298-5851, touchofvenice.com) earned many North Fork Dan’s Best of the Best awards, including gold for chef, cocktail, desserts, Italian cuisine and cappuccino.
