Fourth of July weekend is one of the most exciting times for the East End and Montauk. It may be a little overwhelming to decide exactly what to do on The End, so here’s a roundup of some of the best events going on in Montauk over the holiday weekend.
Perhaps the most celebrated Independence Day tradition in Montauk is the annual Stars over Montauk Fireworks Display by Grucci Fireworks. This year, fireworks will be launched over Umbrella Beach on July 4 at 9 p.m., but the display can be seen from any town beach. Sponsored by the Montauk Chamber of Commerce, these sensational fireworks are funded by chamber members as well as by residents and visitors. The Montauk Chamber of Commerce will also be sponsoring a rummage sale on Saturday, July 4 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Held at the Community Church (850 Montauk Highway), the sale will include everything you would expect at a rummage sale: white elephant, toys, books and more.

Nancy Atlas will play an Independence Day Sunset Set on Saturday, July 4 at 5 p.m. at Navy Beach. Visit the Montauk Beach House for daily poolside DJ sets. Friday, July 3 brings the perfect blend of throwbacks and new beats with a DJ set by Roofeeo and resident DJ Oil Benz. Saturday starts with poolside workout sessions taught by Tanya and LaurenR at 9:30 p.m. (sign up required), followed by a live performance by Dirty Vegas and DJ Oil Benz. From early morning happenings to nightlife, Ruschmeyer’s is offering events for everyone to enjoy this holiday weekend. The Bar at Ruschmeyer’s, The Electric Eel, will host music and dancing on Friday and Saturday night at 10 p.m. Early birds can enjoy yoga on the lawn starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. And on Sunday, Ruschmeyer’s is presenting an old-fashioned boil, offering a prix fixe boil with local seafood, corn, potatoes, and buckets of beer in addition to the regular Sunday menu. The Beach Club at Gurney’s Montauk hosts a ticketed BBQ every Saturday throughout the summer. From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., patrons can enjoy grilled seafood favorites and barbecue classics. Relax on the resort’s expansive 1,000-foot private beach that captures the nostalgic charm of the “endless American summer.” DJ entertainment will begin at 1 p.m. and those looking for top-level comfort can opt to rent a double king-sized daybed. Zum Schneider will host live music performances on Friday and Saturday night. Catch Mamarazzi, an Afro-funk and hip-hop group, on Friday, July 3. The 36th Annual Book Fair at the Montauk Library will be held on Saturday, July 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Books, jewelry, white elephant items, baked goods, plants, a silent auction, kids activities and refreshments will all be available. Author Robin Strong will also be signing and selling her now book, Images of America Montauk. Stop by on Sunday, July 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to browse half-price books. The Montauk Chamber of Commerce holds its weekly Concerts on the Green, musical performances on the village green, Monday nights from 6–8 p.m. throughout the summer. This week’s concert features The Lynn Blue Band. All Concerts on the Green are free and open to the public.
