Alec Baldwin and Leonardo DiCaprio Presenting at DGA Honors
Never one to leave his schedule open, Amagansett actor and new father Alec Baldwin will be presenting at the ninth Directors Guild of America Honors at the DGA Theater in New York City on Thursday, October 15. Recent Montauk visitor Leonardo DiCaprio and The Help actress Bryce Dallas Howard have also been confirmed as presenters, while actor Alan Cumming (The Good Wife, Web Therapy, X-Men II) will serve as the event’s Master of Ceremonies.
This year’s honorees include filmmaker Ron Howard, who recently visited the Hamptons for David Zaslav‘s Labor Day bash; Thomas J. O’Donnell, President of Theatrical Teamsters Local 817 of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Union; entertainment juggernaut Tyler Perry (Diary of a Mad Black Woman, Madea’s Family Reunion, Why Did I Get Married?); film editor Thelma Schoonmaker; and Senator Charles Schumer “for his longstanding role as a champion of job creation and other issues important to those who work in the New York film and television industry.”
The Directors Guild of America explains that their DGA Honors “celebrates individuals and institutions that have made distinguished contributions to American culture through the world of film and television and recognizes the diversity of achievement—in business, government, and labor—required to produce the best entertainment in the world.”
Baldwin isn’t the first Hamptonite to grace the DGA Honors stage, as honoree or presenter. SNL‘s Lorne Michaels received a DGA Honor in 2004, Michael Bloomberg was honored while he was mayor of New York City in 2006 and East Hampton’s Nora Ephron was honored at the last DGA Honors in 2011. Hamptons regular Oprah Winfrey, Amagansett’s Gwyneth Paltrow and Montauker Julianne Moore are all past presenters.
The 2015 DGA Honors will be followed by an after-party at NYC hotspot Nobu 57.
