In a recent review of Long Island wines, Wine Spectator‘s Thomas Matthews had great things to say about Wölffer Estate Vineyard.
The most praise was lavished on Wölffer’s Grapes of Roth Merlot 2010, which Matthews gave 92 points out of 100. “A polished texture carries balanced flavors of tart cherry, pomegranate, toasted hazelnut and espresso in this expressive red,” Matthew wrote. “Features firm, well-integrated tannins and lively acidity. Elegant.”
Also under the Grapes of Roth label, by Wölffer winemaker and partner Roman Roth, Riesling Dry 2014 received 91 points.
Wölffer Estate Trebbiano 2014 picked up 89 points and Wölffer Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2014 garnered 87.
