Documentary Asks 'What Is Love?'
More than 100 East End actors, writers, artists, politicians—people from all walks of life—from age 3 to 95 are posed the question “What is love?” in a documentary Hamptons artists Alex Mankiewicz and Jane Martin are hoping to complete with the help of a crowdfunding campaign.
With 12 days to go, a Kickstarter project to fund editing and obtaining music rights for the aptly named doc, What Is Love?, has received $17,478 in pledges toward a $21,500 goal. A Kickstarter project is an all-or-nothing prospect—if Martin and Mankiewicz don’t meet their goal, they receive none of the money.
Actress Mercedes Reual, artists Paton Miller and Scott Bluedorn, gallerist Vered, former Hamptons International Film Festival Chairman Stuart Match Suna and the late Bill King are just of a few Hamptons personalities interviewed for the film who locals will recognize.
Production began in September 2014. In total, more than 140 individuals have been interviewed so far for the feature-length film, amounting to 60 hours of raw footage.
