Tropical Paradise Event At Southampton Hospital Brings In The Bucks

By David Rattiner
2 minute 08/07/2011 Share

I might have to call it and say that the Tropical Paradise benefit for Southampton Hospital was the event of the summer. The event is hosted by none other than hedge fund legend John Paulson and his wife Jenny, and it couldn’t have delivered a better turnout of people, which included nearly every doctor in the Southampton area, as well as local politicians and celebrities including Chuck Scarborough (master of ceremonies) and Mario and Ramona Singer. The live music performed was by the Alex Donner Orchestra. Everything took place under a massive white tent just outside of the hospital on a large field.

Benefit Chairman Jean Shafiroff was seen outside giving interviews in a gorgeous dress, very happy with the turnout.

The $300 ticket was the ticket of choice last night, which included an incredible evening of food, music and drinks, as well as a vast array of items that could be silently bid on which included everything from photography sessions with a professional photographer to jewelry by Tiffany and Co. which was a big sponsor of the event.

Nealy 1,000 people attended the event and over $2 million was raised for the hospital, which is a new financial record. Much of the money will go to the Jenny and John Paulson emergency department at the hospital.
