Video: Funeral Procession For Monsignor Trench In Southampton
The Hamptons lost a great man recently, and today was his funeral. Monsignor Trench was a well known, respected, and well liked figure in Southampton. His loss was especially hard hitting to the Southampton Sacred Hearts Church on Hill Street, where he was the Priest. His reputation as a community leader and friend was on display today, as nearly all of Southampton turned out for his funeral, including the Southampton Police Department, Fire Department, and the East Hampton and Sag Harbor Fire Departments as well. Monsignor Trench was the former chaplain for the Southampton Fire Department and the Southampton Village Police Department.
His casket was driven into the Sacred Hearts Cemetery while riding aboard a historical firetruck that drove underneath a massive American flag that was hoisted up into the sky by the Sag Harbor and East Hampton Fire Departments.
He will be missed dearly. Here’s a video of the procession that took place early this afternoon.
