Former Mayor John A. Ward Of Sag Harbor Will Be Honored By Naming The Windmill After Him

In Sag Harbor, right at the Long Wharf, is a very gorgeous and very large Windmill. It is one of the most important and iconic structures in Sag Harbor, and it is going to be renamed in honor of a very important man named Mayor John A. Ward.
Former Mayor John A. Ward contributed to Sag Harbor in many, many ways during the 1970s. Not only was he the mayor, but he was also the Cheif of the Sag Harbor Fire Department and a village trustee. Thanks to his efforts, he is widely credited with starting the tourism industry in Sag Harbor, which is today, the most important industry in the Village. The Mayor recently passed away at the age of 90 in mid March.
