I Cannot Wait to See ”End of Watch,” Even If It’s Not at HIFF
With the Hamptons International Film Festival coming up, I’m getting really excited about seeing not just the films showing at the festival, but for the fall and winter’s entire smorgasbord of upcoming movies!
Where to start? At HIFF, naturally. Argo, which not only stars Ben Affleck but was directed by him as well, is the festival’s Centerpiece Film and is a must-see. Remember when Affleck was blowing up asteroids in Armageddon and making films like Gigli? The man has come a long way (not that Armageddon isn’t a classic in its own right)—can’t wait for him to film a movie out here in the Hamptons.
I also have to make time for Silver Linings Playbook (Bradley Cooper is the man!), Not Fade Away (the first big-screen movie directed by David Chase, who created The Sopranos—and Tony Soprano himself, James Gandolfini, is starring!), Lay the Favorite (Bruce Willis is in this one—maybe he and Mr. Affleck can get together for an Armageddon reunion?), and…where should I stop??
As far as documentaries, I’m very interested to see what stories 59 Middle Lane will tell. Everyone here in the Hamptons remembers the Ted Ammon murder, and this film by his son, Greg Ammon, should be a powerful look at the aftermath.
End of Watch won’t be showing at HIFF, but from the trailer below you’ll no doubt see why I can’t wait to grab some popcorn and take in the action on that movie, too.
And have you seen the trailer for The Hobbit yet? It looks awesome!
