Hamptons 100 Songs of Summer #78
“Mexican Radio” by Wall of Voodoo
From Wall of Voodoo’s 1982 album Call of the West, this oddball tune is as catchy as it is weird. “Mexican Radio” is a mix between a Sergio Leone western soundtrack and bands like Falco, Devo and Talking Heads, but somehow it just works for summer. Perhaps best played while sporting an ironic mustache and large, Amber-Vision aviators, the song will add a little character to your next summer day on the town.
Think impossibly large 1970s convertible cars, brown and tan clothes, yellow sunlight and lots of Hipstamatic photos. Better yet, bust out the Holga camera and keep it old school—light leaks and all.
