Southampton’s Dorothy Lichtenstein, widow of artist Roy Lichtenstein and president of his foundation, donated $1 million to the Stony Brook Southampton Graduate Arts Program.

The announcement was made on the opening night of the Southampton Arts Summer Writers Conference, which featured a conversation about writing with former PBS News Hour anchor and novelist Jim Lehrer and his wife Kate Lehrer. The contribution will go toward expanding the university’s graduate theater, writing and arts programs.

Lichtenstein is  a trustee of the Stony Brook Foundation.
