Hamptons Celebrity Real Estate: Richard Gere and Vince Camuto Sell

Water views are all the rage in the Hamptons. Steven Spielberg, Robert DeNiro, Ralph Lauren and Howard Stern own prime waterfront real estate, just to name a few, and two waterfront celebrity homes are for sale this week.

Sotheby’s International Realty has taken on both Hamptons celebrity estates. Richard Gere is making some noise with his ambitiously priced, $65 million Hamptons listing. The more than 12,000-square-foot home on 6.3 acres in North Haven, dubbed “Strongheart Manor” is perfect for any Hollywood Buddhist in need of a Hamptons retreat. If any of the 12 bedrooms is feeling crowded, not to worry, one of the two guesthouses on the property may provide some relief. The estate has incredible water views, and a private dock and screened-in porch for enjoying the sunset.

Of course Gere’s mega mansion isn’t the only Star Maps-worthy home on the market. Shoe designer and co-founder of Nine West, Vince Camuto is selling his Southampton estate, “Wooldon Manor,” for a mere $48 million. The 10,000-square-foot Tudor style mansion has a resume of its own with previous owners such as the founding partner of Merrill Lynch, Edmund Lynch and the Woolworth family. It rests on 5 acres with views of both Lake Agawam and the Atlantic Ocean, but Camuto is leaving it all behind for views of Mill Creek and Mecox Bay in the former Water Mill convent Villa Maria.
