Red Hot Chili Peppers' Chad Smith to Take Stage with Nancy Atlas

Montauk’s Chad Smith, the drummer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, is scheduled to perform with fellow Montauker Nancy Atlas at Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor next month.
Atlas and her band, The Nancy Atlas Project, are lining up a series of Friday concerts at Bay Street, called Fireside Sessions, with a special guest musician each week. Smith is scheduled for the January 3 show.
In a Q&A with Dan’s Papers earlier this year, Atlas named Smith as the best guest star she’s ever worked with. “He is an absolute animal,” Atlas said. “When he sits in on drums, I truly have to pull my belt in a notch tighter. He is a friend but also just a true inspiration. He raises the bar of the entire band whenever we are lucky enough to have him onstage with us. A truly great guy, to boot. I adore him.”
Smith joined the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 1988, just five years after the band formed.
The concerts are being lined up for every Friday in January and February, excluding February 7. Showtime is 8 p.m. and admission will be $15 per show. Visit baystreet.org for tickets or call 631-725-9500. The box office will be closed from December 22 to January 6, but tickets will be available at the door January 3.
