Orange Is the New Black Season 2 Seeks Extras for Riverhead Shoot

Netflix original series Orange Is the New Black will be shooting unspecified scenes for Season 2 in Riverhead this month, and they need extras.
Both male and female non-union talent is needed, according to the listing on modelmuse.net, which also asks how far from Riverhead potential extras live. Scenes will be shot inside the Suffolk County Correctional Facility in Riverhead between January 22 and February 6, and anyone interested should submit current candid photos of themselves along with union status and contact information (and distance from Riverhead) to suffolkcountytalent@gmail.com, Subject: “Riverhead Local Talent” or “Suffolk County Local Talent.”
Based on Piper Kerman‘s memoir Orange Is the New Black: My Year in a Women’s Prison and created by award-winning Weeds creator Jenji Kohan, Orange Is the New Black tells the tale of Piper Chapman (played by Taylor Schilling), a young, upper-middle class New Yorker who must spend a year in women’s prison for her minor involvement with an ex-girlfriend’s international drug trade nearly 10 years before. Chapman, who is bisexual and a popular blogger, is engaged to marry Larry Bloom (Jason Biggs) when she enters prison—only to find her ex girlfriend Alex Vause (Laura Prepon) is incarcerated with her!

An announcement posted on Central Casting New York’s Facebook page notes that background actors are needed in “all ages, ethnicities, shapes and sizes” are required, “the scarier the look—the better!” Potential extras should note if they are ok with nudity and should include photographs of any tattoos and/or scars. All work is paid and no experience is necessary.
The series has also been filming at the Rockland Children’s Psych Center in Orangeburg, NY, where they shot scenes for Season 1, which debuted to high acclaim from viewers and critics on June 27, 2013 (all episodes were released on July 11). Orange Is the New Black has already won a People’s Choice Award for Best Streaming Series, a Satellite Award for Best Cast – Television Series and it is nominated for four more Satellite Awards and a Grammy, and Schilling was just nominated for a Golden Globe in the Best Actress—Television Series Drama category.
Orange Is the New Black Season 2 is scheduled to air exclusively on Netflix some time in 2014. An exact date has not been released, but it will likely be in early summer, like Season 1.
