ARF Pet Adoption Expo Seeks Homes for East End Dogs and Cats
The Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons (ARF) is teaming up with four other Long Island not-for-profit and municipal animal shelters for one of the region’s biggest pet adoption events of the year. For the third year in a row, Long Island’s Best! A Pet Adoption Expo will gather all participating animal welfare organizations to promote adoption under one roof at the Riverhead Polish Hall (214 Marcy Avenue) on Saturday, April 5 from 11 a.m.–3 p.m.
“We want to make pet adoption as easy as possible,” ARF’s Executive Director Sara Davison says, explaining that the event will provide one-stop shopping for puppies, kittens, adult dogs — including great mutts and purebreds — and beautiful cats representing the best shelter animals on Long Island.
Joining ARF will be participating shelters including Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation, Kent Animal Shelter, North Fork Animal Welfare League, Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter and RSVP, Inc.
Hundreds of cats and dogs will be available for adoption. All animals at the event are spayed/neutered and vaccinated to their age limit and checked by a veterinarian. Each dog will go home with a free collar and leash and cats will be given a cardboard carrier.
Free rabies vaccinations supplied by Suffolk County will be available for family pets, along with low cost microchipping and other low cost vaccinations.
The Expo also includes refreshments and a Chinese auction. Admission is free.
Founded in 1974, ARF is the leading no-kill animal adoption center on the East End, with a mission to actively rescue cats and dogs, provide quality care and offer sanctuary until loving homes can be found.
