Katana Restaurant to Open at La Maison Blanche Hotel

Katana, featuring Thai and Indonesian dishes and a sushi bar specializing in sustainable fish, is set to open on Shelter Island this coming Monday, June 9, located within La Maison Blanche Hotel.
Executive chef Alexander Lehnen said the environmentally conscious menu was created keeping the emphasis on using local, sustainable fish in mind.
“We will be offering fish that is not only fresh, but in abundance. It’s important to be sensitive to the environment and remain socially responsible,” he said.
In addition to the featured sushi bar, Katana offers a variety of Thai and Indonesian options, including steamed mussels and vegetable spring rolls as appetizers. Larger dishes include shrimp and vegetable stir-fry, Penang chicken green curry and pan seared yellow fin tuna. The bar will feature Asian-inspired specialty cocktails, such as the Thai Basil Smash and Hanoi Highball.
Lehnen, an experienced proprietor, previously operated restaurants across the country in Amagansett, New York City, Jackson Hole and Aspen. Chef de cuisine Kiki Abdat is originally from Jakarta and sushi chef Kris Kastle was the chef at Kenichi in Aspen.
