The Irrational Portrait Gallery at Southampton Arts Center

On display June 26–July 20 at Southampton Arts Center (25 Jobs Lane), The Irrational Portrait Gallery is a collaborative project by acclaimed Long Island photographer Rick Wenner and artists with the FRESH Art Long Island collective.
Wenner photographed 21 selected artists, and large-format prints were made on canvas and given back to each artist. The artists were then given complete freedom to confront, alter and manipulate the image of themselves. The Irrational Portrait Gallery will be an exploration of how we view ourselves, how we are seen by others, and whether or not it makes any difference between what is real and what is unreal. The final pieces are a collaborative expression and displayed together at the Southampton Arts Center.
An opening reception is scheduled for Saturday June 28, from 5–9 p.m, with live music by Multiple Mono.
The irrational roster includes: Renee Michele Andolina, Anjipan, Katie Berka, Krista Biedenbach, Jon Duci, Robert Edwin, Peter Freleng, Peter Galasso, Colin Goldberg, Carl Horn, Mike Krasowitz, Bryan Landsberg, Albert Lee, Steve Miller, Ben Owens, Oliver Peterson, Phetus, Michelle Posner, Matthew Satz, Stelios and Damon Tommolino.
“Every portrait that is painted with feeling is a portrait of the artist, not of the sitter.” ― Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray
