East End Beardsmen – Countdown to No-Shave November: Matt Lauer
Just 31 days remain before the start of America’s annual beardfest to raise cancer awareness, No-Shave November. As men around the country prepare to spend a month without shaving and enjoy the shaggy look, we celebrate facial follicles and countdown our favorite East End beardsman, from history and today. Let’s hope these hairy heroes help get you in the mood.
Our first East End beardsman is Today anchor Matt Lauer, a Hamptonite and champion of the No-Shave November cause.
Last year, Lauer fell to Al Roker in the Today Show beard war. While Lauer’s beard could not overcome Roker’s, that doesn’t mean his beard was not fantastic in its own right.
As we look forward to the commencement of No-Shave November, we’re glad to appreciate the first of 31 East End beards.
On the opening day of the countdown, we honor Lauer’s late beard. For a while, he looked like he was going to top the Today beard war. In the end, it couldn’t keep up with Roker, but Lauer kept it on for months anyway, earning him some serious cred as a true beardsmen, while his fellow anchors came off as tourists in the lumberjack look.
It was great while it lasted. Lauer ditched the beard in March.
