What does it take to be the best? In the Hamptons and on the North Fork, it takes a particular dedication to excellence, a desire to deliver the best of everything to a discerning group of residents and visitors alike who love the East End. Dan’s Papers has always celebrated the best the Hamptons and the North Fork have to offer, and nowhere is that celebration bigger than in the Dan’s Best of the Best competition.
The 2014 Dan’s Best of the Best, presented by Bridgehampton National Bank (BNB), drew a massive turnout of voters sharing their picks for who should be honored among the best businesses, personalities and events on the East End. Among the 1,500-plus nominees who vied for recognition in some 250 categories, it was you, the Dan’s Papers readers, who told us who they think are tops. In addition, eight honorees are being inducted into the inaugural class of the Dan’s Best of the Best Hall of Fame this year.
“As a community bank, BNB invests in the success of the local business community. We view ourselves as financial partners working together with businesses to support vibrant neighborhoods where both business people, individuals and nonprofits thrive,” says BNB President and CEO Kevin O’Connor. “Dan’s Best of the Best reflects this spirit of partnership where we come together to celebrate and support the best of the East End.”
“So many of our customers are the nominees and winners of this sought-after designation,” O’Connor adds. “In the end, when and where our community comes together, we believe BNB should be an important part of the mix. We are proud to be the community bank standing behind our very special and unique community, which Dan’s spotlights through the Best of the Best.”
This year we have awarded Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze level honors to the top vote-getters in each category on both the North Fork and the South Fork. In many cases the voting was heated right down to the wire, and in the end some races were so close that we had to call a few ties. But, to borrow a phrase, everyone who takes home an award is a winner.
Every one of those winners is invited to come collect those coveted certificates during one of the great traditions of the Best of the Best competition—the annual awards celebration. For the second year in a row, the event will be held at the historic Suffolk Theater in Riverhead, and the party promises to be an evening to remember, a night filled with food and drink and plenty of congratulations. And, of course, the handing out of the Best of the Best awards—which winners can proudly display for all to see in their windows, on their walls, in advertisements or wherever they decide—along with the presentation of the Hall of Fame Awards by WPPB personality Bonnie Grice.
But the fun doesn’t end there. Following the awards party will be the Dan’s Papers Best of the Best Concert, featuring perennial East End favorite, composer, producer and rock ’n’ roll keyboard sensation Joe Delia, and his band the Thieves. They will be joined by a surprise list of 2014 Best of the Best musical winners who have been invited to drop by and sit-in.
And now, without further ado, we proudly announce YOUR Best of the Best choices for 2014!
Tickets for Dan’s Papers Best of the Best Concert on Friday, November 14, at 7:30 p.m. at Suffolk Theater in Riverhead are $25 for general admission. Tickets may be purchased online at suffolktheater.com.
