Monte Farber's Psychic Thoughts: What is Meditation?

Every spiritual seeker comes to know that the secret of contentment cannot be gained from achievements in the world, but only from finding inner peace.

Security, fame, wealth and even happiness are all transitory at best. By sitting still, calming our breath and watching our thoughts, we soon see the clarity of our real nature emerge. It shines through the haze of distraction and illuminates deeper levels of meaning and revelations which can make us truly happy. This is meditation.

Meditation helps us to stand back and observe, rather than being caught up in the drama of our lives. Like the creation of art, stilling the mind requires discipline and effort. The ultimate goal of meditation is to establish conscious union with our divine source. However, to accomplish this requires the relinquishing of all goals and thoughts of accomplishment.

Meditation challenges us to see through this duality and of all opposites, and view them as different ways of looking at the same unifying truth. We come to realize that peace begins where our expectations end. This acceptance of things the way they are is not a surrender to overwhelming forces but is the best way to understand and cope with what we are dealing with at any given moment.

By sitting still, calming our breath, and watching our thoughts, we soon see the clarity of our real nature emerge.  It shines through the haze of distraction and illuminates deeper levels of meaning and revelations which can make us truly happy.  This is meditation.
