Diane O’Neill, a 65-year-old Farmingville woman, was charged with driving while intoxicated after she struck and killed a pedestrian in Jamesport, according to Riverhead police.
Police said they responded to Main Road on January 13 at 7:16 p.m. and found that George J. Kurovics, 90, of Jamesport, was hit by a vehicle while walking. Investigators determines the vehicle was a 2007 Mercedes driven by O’Neill.
O’Neill was found to be intoxicated and was placed under arrest, police said.
Kurovics was treated by EMS personnel, but died at the scene.
The Suffolk County district attorney’s office is reviewing the incident to determine if additional charges will be filed, police said.
