Guilty Pleasure Recap: The Bachelorette, Season 11, Week 8

Pre Show:
The promos couldn’t be more titillating for this week’s episode. It looks like Kaitlyn will finally own up to her tryst with Nick. Now she decides to be honest? It’s a little late for that, don’t you think, Kaitlyn? It would have been more honest not to give in to your desires where Nick is concerned. Amazing how where there’s Nick, there’s TROUBLE! And Kaitlyn has it big time. How will the remaining contestants take it? Will volcanic hot lava pour from Shawn B’s ears and eyeballs? Will one or some of the remaining bachelors walk out? Will Nick get attacked verbally and maybe even physically?
Tune in at 8 p.m. for the results…
CATCH UP & READ – Guilty Pleasure Recap: The Bachelorette, Season 11, Week 7
Can Anyone Say AWKWARD!!
Kaitlyn gazes with soulful eyes at the camera and confesses, “It’s hard for me to admit it, but I had sex with Nick.” Aaaand we’re off…
First up, Ben H and the one-on-one date. It’s all very casual, even romantic. They row to Innisfallen Island, in Ireland’s Lakes of Killarney, where they are all alone in this desolate setting. They engage in a game of hide and seek followed by some serious talk of fears and rejection. It seems Ben was in love with his last girlfriend, but she left him. Now he has concerns that he isn’t lovable. Kaitlyn reassures him, and the rest of the evening goes well, except for Kaitlyn’s pointed question, “Are you a virgin?” Don’t worry, he gave the right response.
The next day, Shawn B, Nick and Joe go on the group date with Kaitlyn at Killarney National Park. Pressure weighs heavily on Kaitlyn as overnights are this week, but she must send two contestants away first. She makes fast work getting rid of Joe. “I want to be brutally honest with you. We’re not on the same page right now. You say you’re in love with me and I don’t feel that right now.” Joe blurts out a few choice expletives in response and exits. The only surprise here is that he lasted this long.
But there is a twist for the other two remaining men on this group date. Kaitlyn sends Nick back to the hotel. She wants alone time with Shawn B. Poor Shawn thinks this is great; he’s getting quality time with Kaitlyn. Back to Gaby’s Pub—it looks like the same place she visited with Ben last night. Shawn B’s euphoria is soon dashed as Kaitlyn picks this time to be honest with him about Nick. She broaches the subject with, “You’re biggest thing is trust. Nick went back to my room and we had sex.” I hold on to the arm of my sofa, expecting lift off! What?! Shawn B is speechless at first. He excuses himself and goes off to the bathroom to regroup. Not at all the response I expected. Shawn B soon returns and says, “I’m going to man up. Am I gonna stomp out of here? No, because I want you. I think you’re worth it.” Well, that played out a lot better than Kaitlyn and I thought it would, given Shawn B’s short fuse, especially when it comes to Nick.
Cut to the last four guys, all in suits, ready for the cocktail party. Chris Harrison, the grim reaper, lumbers in with another surprise. There will be no cocktail party—instead they will go directly to the rose ceremony. Kaitlyn faces the four remaining contestants and starts by calling out, “Shawn.” He approaches her, but instead of accepting the rose, he asks to speak with her.
In private Shawn B says, “I don’t understand, why him? I don’t know why you would do something like that to jeopardize us.”
Kaitlyn responds, “I’m here to explore relationships. Do you think I’m someone you could trust? You have to trust me and I just don’t think you do.”
WHAT?! Now you want trust from Shawn B when you have certainly given him more than enough reason not to trust you. Are you kidding? They return to the rose ceremony and Shawn B accepts the rose, so does Nick and Ben. Sweet Jared is sent home. A true gentleman right till the end, when Kaitlyn walks him out and they sit on a bench for their last talk, he offers her his suit jacket. Now that’s a sweet gesture especially given that he’s just been rejected. This guy is the true catch.
Next stop is Cork, Ireland. Fantasy suite dates begin, and guess who goes first? You’ve got it, Nick. Of course it culminates in yet another romantic night. This guy is really getting to know Kaitlyn and it’s all on coast-to-coast TV. Close up on Kaitlyn who says, “This isn’t just a physical thing, it’s spiritual.” Kaitlyn, wake up! There’s nothing spiritual about Nick! You, like many other women who readily give excuses for the bad boys, see something that really doesn’t exist.
Shawn B is climbing the walls again. He is tormented thinking of slimy Nick all over Kaitlyn. The next day, he’s off to Nick’s suite to confront him. Shawn B says, “I don’t think you’re here for Kaitlyn. You’re manipulative and arrogant. I think you have other reasons to be here.”
