The i-tri Girls successfully completed the Hamptons Youth Triathlon at Long Beach in Sag Harbor last Saturday. On Monday, the i-tri Girls gathered at Coopers Beach in Southampton to celebrate their success in the Hamptons Youth Triathlon which included a 300-yard swim, 7-mile cycle and 1.5-mile run.

I-tri is a East End community-based athletic program that values personal empowerment and healthy lifestyle choices. Created specifically for girls, i-tri fosters the vision to show young girls that one can accomplish big goals by working hard and keeping a positive mindset.

The girls arrived at Coopers via Hamptons Free Ride looking stylish in perfectly tailored pink dresses donated by Stitch of Southampton. They celebrated with fresh watermelon and plenty of selfies.

At the celebration some of the girls reflected on their decision to join the i-tri program, which many of them found out about in school. “It feels really cool that I’ve done a triathlon, I’ve never done something like that before,” i-tri athlete Catherine Lefevre said.

Other i-tri Girls said training for a triathlon came with some challenges, but it was worth the dedication. “I found it difficult to wake up early in the morning—my parents had to wake me up at 5:30 a.m.” i-tri athlete Ava Albinson said. “I was like, ugh, no!”

I-tri athlete Francesca Vitale added, “They will push you, but it makes you feel good in the end.”

All of their training paid off as the i-tri Girls just completed their best season yet!
