This Saturday, July 25, Maurice DuBois, award-winning anchor of CBS 2 News This Morning and the weekend edition of CBS Evening News, will be the master of ceremonies for All Star Code’s second annual Summer Benefit at a private oceanfront residence in East Hampton.

All Star Code, a New York–based tech education nonprofit, is raising funds and awareness for the organization’s mission of providing under-represented high school boys of color with the skills, networks, and know-how to succeed in the tech sector through computer science training and interpersonal skills.

“Learning how to build things with computers is the superpower of our time,”said Christina Lewis Halpern, the founder and executive Ddirector of All Star Code. “Our boys will be the change-makers of tomorrow. I’m so excited to bring our community together to celebrate All Star Code and diversity in tech.”

Halpern is the daughter of Reginald F. Lewis, a former lawyer and financier who died in 1993, but in his time was one of the nation’s wealthiest businessmen. Halpern was a staff writer at The Wall Street Journal until 2010 and in 2011 she spent six weeks reporting in Kenya and South Sudan. In 2012 she published a memoir about her father and in 2013 launched All Star Code.

The event will be held at the Lewis residence in East Hampton and will bring together accomplished leaders in finance, technology, art and philanthropy to showcase the innovative achievements of current students and alumni. Last year’s guests included music mogul Russell Simmons, media mogul, music manager and upcoming Shark Tank judge Troy Carter, and the first African-American mayor of New York City, David Dinkins.

The evening begins with a cocktail reception and interactive, student-designed game stations followed by dinner provided by Chef Marcus Samuelson of Red Rooster Harlem, an awards ceremony, and dance party with DJ Mick.

This year’s distinguished honorees include Frank A. Baker, Goldman Sachs Gives and Marcus Mitchell. Valentino D. Carlotti of Goldman Sachs, Carter and Loida Nicolas Lewis are co-chairs of the event.

Also expected to attend are Gayle King of CBS This Morning and editor at large of O, The Oprah Magazine, Miss USA 2015 Olivia Jordan, Miss Universe 2014 Paulina Vega, Real Housewives of New York City cast member Kristen Taekman,  New York Jets Wide Receiver Shaquelle Evans, model and Ralph Lauren ambassador Chris Collins, actress Jane Krakowski and Sports Illustrated model Hilary Rhoda.

All Star Code Summer Intensive program included visits to Spotify, YouTube, Goldman Sachs, GLG, The Center For Social Innovation, The Flatiron School, Yelp and Dev Bootcamp, and it included 40 students, 31 of whom were from Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens and Manhattan. This incredible summer experience will culminate in an unforgettable evening on the East End.
