Piper Perabo Joins 'Twelfth Night' Reading in Sag Harbor
Golden Globe nominated actress Piper Perabo will star as Viola in Bay Street Theater’s outdoor reading of Twelfth Night, Or What You Will by William Shakespeare.
Performances will take place on Friday, August 14, and Saturday, August 15, in Mashashimuet Park in Sag Harbor. The two readings are free and open to the public. In addition to Perabo, Twelfth Night will also star Julia Motyka as Olivia, Josh Gladstone as Sir Toby Belch, and Kate Mueth as Maria.
Perabo is a talented and versatile working actress. Perabo has recently wrapped up a five-season run on the hit USA Network series Covert Affairs. She has been seen in The Prestige with Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale, in Because I Said So with Diane Keaton and Lauren Graham and The Heaven Project with the late Paul Walker. Her breakout role was the protagonist of Coyote Ugly, and also among her film credits are Looper, Cheaper by the Dozen 2, Me & You, 10th & Wolf and White Boyz.
Twelfth Night is one of Shakespeare’s most notable romantic comedies, filled with love and disguise. The readings will be presented without intermission and will run under two hours.They will feature direction by Bay Street’s artistic director, Scott Schwartz, and original music and sound design by Hamptons Shakespeare Festival artistic director David M. Brandenburg. Limited seating will be available on bleachers and guests are welcome to bring their own blankets and chairs as they enjoy a show under the stars.
A third performance will be a VIP benefit on Sunday, August 16, at a private oceanfront estate. The event includes a reception with the cast, and the evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails followed by the Twelfth Night reading at 7 p.m. Call 631-725-0818 extension 112 to purchase tickets.
