Nancy Atlas Will Continue Weekly Surf Lodge Shows
At what was supposed to be the Nancy Atlas Project’s final Wednesday night concert at The Surf Lodge in Montauk this season, local rocker Nancy Atlas announced that she and the band would continue playing weekly shows there as long as the weather cooperates.
Expecting it to be her last gas at The Surf Lodge on Wednesday, crowds packed the place, wall to wall, proving that no new parking restrictions would curb fans’ pursuit of hearing live music on The End. Taxi drivers offered a special rate of $5 per person from downtown Montauk and many concertgoers parked just above Edgemere Street, near the Flamingo Road firehouse.
During the show, as the setting sun cast a warm glow upon the band, Atlas shared that she was once a spokesperson for Winn-Dixie. She also called up both “Dr. Dan” Koontz and Montauk’s Joe Delia to take a turn on the keyboard.
If there was any mention of Jimmy Buffett joining the Nancy Atlas Project onstage for an upcoming Surf Lodge concert you did not read about it here. It would be a special, insider-y local thing…
