Supermarket chain Stop & Shop will open its newest locations, in Southampton Village and East Hampton Village, at 7:30 a.m. Friday, October 16.
Stop & Shop bought both grocery stores, which were formerly Waldbaum’s, from A&P, which declared bankruptcy. After the Waldbaum’s stores closed their doors for good on October 7, Stop & Shop immediately came in to clean, paint and rebrand. Familiar faces will still be there—Stop & Shop kept on many former Waldbaum’s employees.
“Stop & Shop is committed to being a good neighbor in the communities where it does business,” said Don Sussman, the president of Stop & Shop New York Metro Division. “At each store grand opening event, Stop & Shop plans to make a charitable donation to a local nonprofit organization that makes a positive impact on the lives of children.”
The East Hampton store is located at 67 Newtown Lane. The Southampton store is on Jagger Lane, between Windmill Lane and North Main Street.
