Memorial Day (Monday, May 30) and the official start of the East End’s busy summer season is literally days away, so now’s the time to take advantage of all the special things that will be nonexistent or difficult to enjoy in the Hamptons once the crowds arrive from points west.

We continue our countdown of 20 things to do before Memorial Day in the Hamptons with:

Memorial Day is almost here! Are you totally excited to get your family together and enjoy the Hamptons? Just make sure that, in all the excitement, you remember to bring along some important items that will come in handy! From suntan lotion to phone chargers, here’s a list of a few things we recommend packing before your trip. So grab a bag or two, prep your cooler and go Out East!

Sun Fun
Suntan lotion
Towels
Cooler with appropriate goodies
Bug spray
Beach chairs
Sunglasses

Food & Drink
See our guide to having a beach picnic
Wine – rosé, perhaps?
Water. Lots and lots of water.
Non-perishable snacks
Perishable food should be in a cooler for freshness!

A Long Day’s Journey
Phone chargers, preferably compatible with cars
Cash. Lots of smaller businesses don’t take credit cards, or have a minimum
A map—on the off chance your phone has no GPS or you forget your phone chargers, nothing beats a good ol’ paper map.
Full tank of gas so you don’t have to stop halfway through the day
First Aid kit; it’s going to be a nice day, but things happen!

Have fun!
