The Affair Season 3 Premiere Date Announced

Will narcissist Noah go to jail for declaring he killed Scotty? Will Alison finally realize that she was married to Pacey from Dawson’s Creek and dump Noah’s sorry (if taut) butt? Will anyone act like a grownup?

These questions and more will hopefully be answered come Sunday, November 20, when The Affair returns for a third season of Montauk-set mayhem. When last we saw the crazy cast of characters—including self-absorbed writer Noah Solloway (Dominic West), fragile waif Alison Lockhart (Ruth Wilson), bitter pot smoker Helen Solloway (Maura Tierney) and handsome sad sack Cole Lockhart (Joshua Jackson)—Noah stood up in court and declared he’d killed would-be rapist Scotty Lockhart (Colin Donnell) the night of Cole’s wedding to Luisa Léon (Catalina Sandino Moreno). Of course, the show’s signature flashbacks revealed that Alison pushed Scotty off of her onto the road and a drunken Helen ran him down, but since Noah is arguably to blame for literally everyone’s problems, we are actually glad he decided to take the blame and do something selfless for a change. Of course, knowing the show’s tendency to bait-and-switch, Noah could have completely selfish intentions in declaring his fake guilt.

There’s no word on storylines for the upcoming season. We’d love to see more of Noah and Helen’s evil spawn Whitney (Juliana Goldani-Telles) and creepy former Lobster Roll owner Oscar Hodges (Darren Goldstein), as well as lovesick Max Cadman (Josh Stamberg), who is Helen’s biggest fan.

Tierney, who won a Golden Globe for her performance as Helen, teased to Variety that Season 3 would shake up the show’s narrative structure, which currently jumps between the perspectives of the four main characters. Now that the truth is seemingly out about who killed Scotty, there’s less need for flashbacks.
