Watch Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in 'Logan' Trailer

Hamptons fan Hugh Jackman is starring in his final film as Marvel comics fan favorite and X-Men tough guy Wolverine this winter. The new addition to the series, Logan—opening in theaters March 3, 2017—uses the clawed brawler’s real name as its title, and the trailer is looking good.
Set in the future, and seemingly based in part on the popular 2008-2009 Old Man Logan comic series, the film follows an aging Logan and X-Men founder Professor Charles Xavier (played by Patrick Stewart) as they cope with the loss of the X-Men as a corporation led by Nathaniel Essex is destroying the world. With the world a wreck and Logan’s healing abilities fading and Xavier’s Alzheimer’s forcing him to forget, Wolverine must defeat Essex with help from a young girl named Laura Kinney (Dafne Keen), a female clone of Wolverine who’s called X-23 in Marvel’s comic books.
In Old Man Logan, written by Mark Millar and drawn by Steve McNiven, Wolverine is suffering guilt and shame and hasn’t popped his claws in years following a world takeover by all the villains of the Marvel Universe. Owing money to the evil Hulk gang, led by a radiation-poisoned, evil version of Bruce Banner, Logan must set off across the country with is old friend Hawkeye, of the Avengers, to make a delivery and, as a result, the money he needs to protect his family from the Hulks.
It’s a dark, twisted version of the Marvel world, but the eight-issue story captured the imagination of fans, and it became one of the best selling comic book runs of that time. X-23 did not appear in that run, so clearly Logan is an amalgamation of several Wolverine storylines.
Either way, it looks like an interesting and different take on the character on film.
