78 Foster Restaurant & Bar Replaces BackBar Grille in Hampton Bays

Tim Burke’s BackBar Grille, which opened at 78 Foster Avenue in Hampton Bays back in August of 2013, closed its doors this year, but a new hopeful hotspot named for the restaurant’s address, 78 Foster Restaurant & Bar, is breathing fresh air into the dockside location.
New owner Helene Donnelly has also taken over the popular Tully’s Fish Market in the front of the building, but she’s keeping the name.

This tastefully decorated new nautical restaurant offers fresh local seafood, raw bar, classic pub fare and creative entrée favorites on extensive lunch and dinner menus. They’re also serving long into the night on Fridays and Saturdays with live music and a late night menu available from 10 p.m. to midnight, featuring decadent delights, such as disco fries to fulfill those after hours cravings. Nightly specials, including $6.50 burger night on Tuesdays, $19.95 steak night on Thursdays, and $24.95 prime rib night on Sundays, as well as signature cocktails, craft beer and a wine list, and Happy Hour from 3–7 p.m. every day, round out the experience.
Many of the former BackBar Grille employees are back in order to keep what Donnelly calls a “sense of family” among her staff and customers. The restaurant runs as a team from the local favorite bartenders to the newly compiled chefs and kitchen crew, the owner explains.

Tully’s Fish Market and Snack Shack now serves breakfast specials, cold cuts, sandwiches and more to grab before hitting the beach, as well as freshly caught local seafood to pick up for dinner on the way home.
78 Foster is currently open Tuesday–Thursday and Sundays from noon–9 p.m., and Friday–Saturday from noon–10 p.m. The restaurant will open Mondays starting Memorial Day.
