Jim Breuer and Billy Joel Perform ACDC at Madison Square Garden
While it’s further confirmation that Billy Joel’s Madison Square Garden residency is a joyful gathering of the over-40 set, we (who are over 40) can’t help tapping our toes to this rocking rendition of ACDC’s “You Shook Me All Night Long,” with vocals by none other than fellow Long Islander Jim Breuer.
The comedian/musician made his surprise appearance at the 50th show of Joel’s MSG residence, which also featured an appearance by NY Rangers hockey legend Mark Messier, on Wednesday, March 28. Breuer perfectly captured ACDC frontman Brian Johnson’s gravely voice and paid deference to Joel (who played guitar), pointing to him and singing his name throughout the song.
Johnson, who is friends with Breuer, performed the same song with Joel, at the same venue, back in 2014.
Joel also received a banner during the concert, which now hangs from the MSG rafters, in honor of his landmark 50th show. The Sag Harbor Piano Man’s 100th lifetime MSG show, and 54th consecutive residence concert, is scheduled for July 18, 2018.
