Comprising the majority of the North Fork, Southold Town offers much in the way of bay beach fun. Six beaches fall under the jurisdiction of Southold Town, with Town Beach being arguably the most popular. Resident beach permits cost $10 per season. A non-resident seasonal permit is $150. Parking permits are available at the Southold Town Clerk’s Office and by mail.

Daily parking is available at three of the town’s beaches, with passes sold on-site for a fee of $25 per day. Beach attendants are on staff on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays 10:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. for the summer and can only issue non-resident daily parking permits.

Permits may also be obtained at the town clerk’s office in Southold. The office is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Please call before stopping by in person to make sure someone is in the office as they have a small staff. The office of the Southold Town Recreation Department is located in the Southold Town Recreation Center at 970 Peconic Lane in Peconic.

Residents may also acquire a beach parking permit by mailing an application form from the Southold Town website, a copy of vehicle registration, valid tax receipt for the current year, $20 fee and self-addressed, stamped envelope. The mailing address is Elizabeth A. Neville, Southold Town Clerk, Town Hall, P.O. Box 1179, Southold, NY 11971.

Southold Town lessees can obtain a permit by mailing the same forms as residents with one change; rather than a tax receipt, lessees need an affidavit signed by the property owner, stating the name of the lessee and property owner, location of property, names of adults occupying the home and term of such tenancy. Lessees also pay a higher fee than residents, at $100 per vehicle.

Non-residents send $300 and an application form detailing name, address, vehicle registration license number to Southold Town Hall.
